HELP US CREATE A COURT REPORTER RECRUITING VIDEO!

Submit Your “I Am A Court Reporter” Video In Just 4 Easy Steps — See Below!

Court Reporting & Captioning Week is coming, so let’s make a video to help recruit new stenos!

Submit a video of yourself in front of your machine talking about why you love steno. Be sure to include “I AM A COURT REPORTER!” in your video. Once we have your submissions, we’ll edit them all together to make one epic montage.

We’ll then send the final video to our entire community, with the hopes that you’ll share it far and wide to help inspire the next generation.

Again,  be sure to film yourself with your steno machine in view and give a few examples of why court reporting and captioning is great!  Scroll down for an example video, suggested talking points, upload and consent information, and a few production tips.

PRODUCTION POINTERS

Helpful tips to enhance your video!

  • CONSIDER LIGHTING

Check to ensure your video is lit up well. Check for awkward shadows and keep light sources in front of you for the best outcome!

  • CONSIDER SOUND

Check for background noise. Noise interference from traffic, leaf blowers, children, pets and more can all contribute to background sound that could make it difficult to hear your video. Do your best to record in a quiet space.

  • CONSIDER YOUR BACKGROUND

A clean space behind you or a blank wall works best! Or, if you’re using Zoom, try a blurred background.

  • CONSIDER YOUR ATTIRE

If you can, dress as if you were attending a deposition! Solid color shirts and simple jewelry are best for video.

  • CONSIDER YOUR CAMERA POSITION

If you are using a phone to record your video, be sure that the phone is horizontal. A horizontal video will result in a better playback for the viewers. Think about using a phone tripod or a friend to help you hold the phone or video camera you are using. If it’s easier to record through zoom you can do that, too!

THANK YOU!

UPLOAD YOUR VIDEO BY FEBRUARY 2ND SO WE CAN DEBUT THE FINAL EDIT AT THE END OF COURT REPORTING & CAPTIONING WEEK (FEB 4-11)
