Advocating in the Real World: How to Talk About Your Profession

March 10, 2026 @ 4:00PM Pacific | 7:00PM Eastern
90-Minutes | NCRA, AAERT & NVRA credit is pending for this webinar

Across every method of capture, today’s professionals are often called upon to explain their role, educate clients, and represent the industry with confidence. This interactive session will explore how to navigate common questions and misconceptions about the profession, communicate the value of human expertise, and strengthen collaboration among all members of the record-creation team, including videographers and transcriptionists.

Through guided discussion and real-world examples, participants will learn effective ways to advocate for their work, address challenging conversations with professionalism, and promote trust and understanding within the legal community. The program concludes with a dynamic Q&A designed to help attendees put these communication strategies into practice and leave better equipped to represent the profession with clarity and confidence.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Identify common communication challenges reporters face in professional, client-facing, or collaborative environments and evaluate constructive approaches for addressing them.
  • Demonstrate strategies for speaking confidently and accurately about the reporting profession, grounded in fact-based explanations that support clarity and professionalism.
  • Explain how thoughtful self-advocacy and informed communication contribute to strengthening public trust in the record and in the reporter’s role.
  • Recognize how respectful, well-informed dialogue can reduce conflict, misconceptions, or confusion in day-to-day interactions.
