E-Filing Tips

If you use any of the files that are not PDF (e.g., .txt, .xmef, .ptx), they must be converted before e-filing. This can be done by “Printing to PDF” using a program like Adobe Acrobat Pro (commercial) or Cute PDF (free).

Files can also be converted by printing out the document, and then scanning back into the computer; “Scanning to PDF”. The latter method will result in a slight quality loss and potential removal of OCR data.

Some court e-filing systems reject PDFs with hyperlinks. For instance, our Linked PDF Transcript and/or ACE files may be rejected. Some courts even reject the index pages that include hyperlinks back to the transcript text. If you receive these errors, try to “Print to PDF” or “Scan to PDF” to remove all hyperlinks.

Most files from Veritext are OCR’ed (text is searchable), however OCR data may be lost when “Printing to PDF” or “Scanning to PDF”. If you need to submit a PDF that is text searchable, use an OCR application such as Adobe Acrobat Pro (commercial).
